This week I hit my 1000th screen recording using Screencast-O-Matic Full Disclosure: This is an affiliate link, which means if you purchase through this link, we'll receive a small compensation at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep the site free. Thanks! . 🎉
Screencast-O-Matic is a screen recording tool that can be used via app or right in a browser.
I use it on a daily basis to record meetings and tech tutorials.
I can record both my own audio and the computer’s audio, so I never miss a beat.
Not only is it easy-to-use, but it even has a suite of editing features.

You see, I am a hoarder.
A digital hoarder.
I find great pleasure in keeping hordes of files that I don’t need, will never use, and never even remember I have.
Yet, somehow, I feel a large amount of peace knowing I have everything I’ve ever touched with my digital footprint just a few clicks away.
People often wonder how I remember all the small details, and while I’d like to believe it’s my impeccable memory, often times it’s because the conversation was recorded. (Disclaimer: they know they’re being recorded, they just didn’t realize I actually review the recordings!)
I’m already a detail-oriented person, but knowing everything is recorded, so I can reference it again, puts my mind at so much ease.
Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed by the amount of information inside your brain or how fast people talk during important discussions?
Screencast-O-Matic is my secret weapon.
It allows me to dump all my conversations with others in a folder, and not worry about missing those small details.
And my favorite hack?
TIMESTAMPS.
That’s right.
I mark timestamps on my notes during calls.
That way I can focus on the conversation at hand because I know I can always go back through the recording quickly if I need to.
Later, I reference the exact spot I need and don’t waste time searching.
To celebrate my thousandth recording, I wanted to go through the 5 C’s for why I love Screencast-O-Matic…
C #1 – COMPATIBLE
Screencast-O-Matic’s screen recorder is compatible with Apple, Windows, and Chrome Operating Systems.
This means no matter who I’m talking to, I can always recommend the tool and never worry if it’s going to work on their machine (like so many other screen recording tools!)
C #2 – CAPABLE
Screencast-O-Matic comes with a suite of all the most important editing tools you’ll probably ever need if you’re not a professional video editor.
My most-used features include blur, trim, audio voiceover, transitions, and text overlay, but that’s really just scratching the surface of all it can do.
I love that I can record video tutorials and edit them all in one, easy tool and then export to my computer in a matter of minutes.
AND as if that wasn’t enough, I can upload a video recorded somewhere else or from someone else and edit it inside Screencast-O-Matic!
C #3 – CHEAP
Screencast-O-Matic has a free version, but I loved the product so much, I upgraded in the first week I used it to get all the editing tools and longer recordings.
The Deluxe version is only $18 a year, but I always tell people about my 20% off affiliate link because we BOTH get 20% off!
I’m flabbergasted at how cost-effective my absolute favorite tool is.
C #4 – CRUCIAL
Out of every single tool I use and pay for, Screencast-O-Matic is by far my favorite.
If you told me I had to get rid of every tool in my belt, but one, I would keep this one.
Really.
C #5 – CLEAR
So many tools have so many useless features and have thing upon thing just to say “Hey! Look what I can do!”
Screencast-O-Matic isn’t boastful.
It’s truly robust enough for the more advanced techy, but simple enough for the not-so-tech-savvy.
I don’t find myself getting frustrated and flustered as I do with so many other tools.
And there you have it.
The many reasons why I love Screencast-O-Matic and why I think you need to add it to your arsenal of tools too.
Be sure to check out the free version and when you’re ready to commit the few dollars for the paid version, grab 20% off with my link.
Happy recording!
Jessie
